Another great reason to visit the Broadwater Parklands in Southport is the enclosed swimming lagoon and attached beach.

This area, sits opposite the Bouncy Pillow so if you are planning a visit it is best to park in the same place as you would to visit the Washington Waters Playground and the Bouncy Pillow.

Sitting in the relatively sheltered Broadwater the swimming lagoon water is mostly calm so great for small children to wade or swim. For stronger more experienced swimmers there is a permanent jumping pontoon to swim out to.

The swimming lagoon is easy walking distance to outdoor showers, BBQ and picnic shelters, shady picnic spots and toilet facilities.

If you are looking to purchase snacks or lunch there are a number of venues within the parklands including: Shak Espresso, The Fish Shak and Cafe Catalina.

If you are still looking for more to do whilst visiting the Broadwater Parklands you can go visit the nearby Washington Waters Playground and the Bouncy Pillow, take a short walk to the jetty where you can ride the Hopo Gold Coast Ferry, discover The Rockpools water playground or simply walk or ride through the parklands taking in the scenic Broadwater and all the features and facilities of the parklands.

Toddler Review

Due to the calm natural water this Swimming Lagoon is ideal for toddlers and small children. The sandy beach is quite large and is great for sand play and even has a few playground toys scattered around.

It is lovely just to sit on the beach, play in the sand and take in the views of the Gold Coast and watch the seagulls, pelicans and various watercraft pass by.

Having parking, toilets, outdoor showers, picnic areas and playgrounds in relatively easy walking distance makes this an ideal spot for parents with small children.

If you are a looking for a beach outing it is well worth taking a visit to the Swimming Lagoon at Broadwater Parklands.
