Toddler Review
When I first heard about Wobbygongs it put Southport Sharks on my list of things to do with my toddlers. I don’t know of any other Gold Coast restaurants that offer a kids club experience. If you know of others, pass on the details and I will check those out too!
When I decided to visit The Night Before Christmas being held at the Southport Sharks Event Centre I decided to book in for Wobbygongs and dinner in Frenzy’s to make a lovely pre-Christmas Family afternoon/evening outing.
Be prepared to stand around in the entrance for a while whilst your toddler investigates the two large aquariums that contain reef sharks and tropical fish. They are at the perfect height for a toddler and mine were mesmerised.
As I mentioned we went on a Sunday afternoon whilst the Kids Show was running making Frenzy’s the embodiment of kid friendly dining. With the show on, you don’t really need to pay for Wobbygongs as the show would entertain your toddler and you could sit back and relax. Having said that I had pre-booked a 1 hour session and Fletcher and his cousin loved Wobbygongs and it was hard to get them to leave when their dinner was ready. So Wobbygongs got the thumbs up from a 3yo and 8yo.
When it comes to meals we ordered a Pizza, Schnitzel and Large serve of chips to share between the 4 of us. This turned out to be a better value way to order and feed the four of us. The kid’s meals were pretty average but do the job. The food in general is what you would expect from a pub or club. I recommend purchasing at least one membership for $7 as you will get that money back from your food and drinks bill.
Watch Southport Sharks What’s On page for free kid’s events and consider booking in for dinner so your toddler can experience Wobbygongs or the other kids entertainment Southport Sharks has on offer.
What to pack (suggestions)
- Snacks (back-up if there are any meal delays)
- Packet of wipes for spills and toddler clean-up
- Bibs (if out for dinner and your toddlers are bathed and ready for bed)
- Tablet / phone or diner table friendly toys for smaller children unable to attend Wobbygongs
